Elna Lotus, Elna Stella
Tiny but complete
The Elna Lotus is a fantastic little machine. Beautifully made by the Swiss company Elna, from the late 1960's to 1980 it is designed to be completely self-contained. It really has to be seen to be believed - closed up you'd hardly know that there's a fully functional sewing machine hidden inside.
Neat
The Elna Lotus (and variations the Elna Special and Elna Stella) have built-in protection flaps which click up to wrap up the machine in a tidy little bundle. To sew, you unclick the flaps at the top and the flaps lay down to guide the fabric up and over the machine's arm. (Earlier models have strong metal flaps and later models including the Stella have smoked or white Lexan flaps which are removable to allow use of the small free-arm). All versions are light, easy to carry around and pack up extremely neatly.
This wonderful machine is not in plentiful supply and any which come up are always snapped up by collectors in the know.
